Could it be ..?!
I've had this feeling before.. a sore throat .. strepsils don't seem to help.. a swollen feeling at the back of the throat.. painful to swallow! Damn.. better get to the doctor quick! Yep.. the doctor has confirmed my suspicion that I have tonsillitis. Oh well.. at least I caught it early. So now I find myself taking a course of anti-biotics and sitting at home watching daytime TV! Woop! So I thought this would be a good time to write up about some of the more humorous things that have happened during my time in singapore! =)
Funny Conversation at Tampines Cineplex
Well.. this made me laugh anyway! All I wanted was a small coke to drink while I was watching the movie. The conversation went something like this:
Me: "Hi! Could I have a small coke please?"
Staff: "Sorry sir, we have ran out of small cups."
Me: "Oh really?"
Staff: "Yes. How about a large one?"
Me: "Well.. I really only wanted a small one, but medium will be fine thanks"
Staff: "Certainly! Would you like to up-size that for only 10 cents?"
Distorted Sense of Space and Time
It appears that Singaporeans have a completely different sense of space and time than people from larger countries. My European and American friends can vouch for this one (they've had similar conversations)! Here's an example of a conversation I had recently:
Me: "Hi. Can you help me.. Do you know where the Funan Center is?"
Some Singaporean Guy: "Funan Center.. hmmmm.. yeah.. it's that way.. but ooh. maybe you should get a train or something.. it's a looooong way."
Me: "Ah. Ok. I don't mind a bit of a walk.. thanks"
5 minutes later I arrive at the Funan Center..!
I'll upload more stories when I can think of them!
